Bringing you the best of local artisans

The Snowflakes in Stanthorpe Festival returns again this year on the 5th, 6th and 7th of July.

We are looking forward to bringing plenty of fun for families over the 3 day event.

Saturday and Sunday are the big days on the Stanthorpe ‘Snowgrounds’ with a snowfield, iceskating and plenty of free family friendly activities.

To kick off this epic winter festival, the community of Stanthorpe brings to you a fantastic local funday on Friday the 5th of July.  The main street festival is closed from 8am to 5pm and will play host to an all local affair including great entertainers,  local produce, local artisans, plenty of fun activities and the return of the incredible ice sculpture competition.

In our effort to find the most interesting of artisans, a locally built Mongolian Ger (also recognised as a yurt) will be constructed in the main street.  Local, Barbara Balkwill has realised a 20 year dream to build a Ger.  Barbara, with Stacy Krzewina & Barbara Fischer of Alpaca Artisans have used local alpaca fibre to make the 18 panels that make up the Ger.   A monumental 3 months in the making, the Ger also includes framework, decorative painting, and ropes hand made by Scott Derrick of Beechmont.

Come along on Friday the 5th to meet this great group of Artisans who will not only show you the magnificent structure, they will also be using it as a marque to sell alpaca fibre products and clothing.

As the sun sets on a great day of entertainment, there will be a lantern parade and fireworks by Quartpot Creek.  There will be plenty of local food establishments waiting to warm your bellies with great country food.  Keep warm, sleep well and snow covered dreams to you all, our snowmen will be up early creating our best ever snowfield for you to enjoy.
